“I had the privilege of working with Johnny Ingle during one of the most exciting and demanding chapters of my professional career: the launch of ALIV Telecommunications in The Bahamas. Johnny was more than a senior leader to me. He was a mentor who came into my career at exactly the right time and helped shape the professional I am today.
Launching a second telecommunications company in this market wasn't easy. Every day brought new opportunities,
new challenges, and high expectations. We weren't just launching a brand; we were building a culture, earning a nation's
trust, and changing the telecommunications landscape in The Bahamas. Through it all, Johnny led with confidence, vision, discipline and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
One of the things I admired most about Johnny was his ability to bring out the best in people. He expected a lot from his team, but he never asked for more than he was willing to give himself. He invested in people, challenged us to think differently, pushed us beyond our comfort zones and encouraged us to operate at a level we didn't always know we were capable of.
He had a unique ability to recognize potential and then equip people with the confidence and tools to reach it.
Personally, Johnny gave me opportunities that helped define my career. As Events, Sponsorship & Community Manager,
I was entrusted with representing the ALIV brand across The Bahamas, building strategic partnerships, leading community initiatives, managing major sponsorships and ensuring our brand was represented with excellence. Johnny trusted me to
lead, gave me the freedom to be creative and always challenged me to think bigger.
One lesson from Johnny has stayed with me ever since. He would always say, "Own the room." It's a simple phrase, but it carries so much meaning. Whether I was preparing for a presentation, walking into a boardroom, hosting an event, or representing the company, he reminded me to show up prepared, be confident, know my value and own the moment.
Years later, those three words still live rent-free in my mind and I hear them whenever I step into any room.
Johnny also taught me that leadership isn't just about delivering commercial results. It's about building relationships,
investing in people, protecting your reputation, preparing thoroughly, paying attention to the smallest details and never compromising your standards. Those lessons didn't end when I left ALIV, they've stayed with me throughout every role I've held since.
As a proud Bahamian professional woman, I can honestly say Johnny's mentorship had a lasting impact on my career.
The confidence he placed in me, the opportunities he gave me and the standard of excellence he expected continue to influence how I lead, how I serve and how I represent the organizations I'm fortunate enough to work for today.
Johnny is a rare kind of leader. He's strategic, decisive, approachable and genuinely invested in the success of the people around him. He celebrates wins, develops leaders and creates an environment where people are challenged to become the
very best version of themselves.
Looking back, I realize that some of the most valuable lessons I learned in my career came during my time working alongside Johnny. For that, I will always be grateful. I am proud to have worked with him, thankful for his mentorship and happy to recommend him without hesitation. Any organization would be fortunate to have a leader who not only delivers exceptional results, but also leaves a lasting impact on the people he leads.
Thank you, Johnny, for believing in me, challenging me to be better, and for teaching me to always "Own the room."
It's a lesson I'll carry with me for the rest of my career.
